Breeding Assistant

Job Summary
MAS Seeds, a subsidiary of Groupe Coopératif Maisadour, is seeking a skilled Breeding Assistant to support its Tropical Corn Breeding Program in Queretaro, Mexico. As a key member of the R&D team, you will be responsible for developing breeding operations plans, communicating with stakeholders, and ensuring the execution of breeding operations according to protocols and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop breeding operations plans for assigned breeding programs, including selfing, crossing, or observation nurseries, experimental hybrid seed production, trialing, and laboratory analyses.
• Communicate operations plans to relevant stakeholders, including nurseries, production, trialing, and laboratories.
• Adjust plans as needed to ensure the best fit between demand, resources, and value for the breeding program.
• Ensure proper capture and communication of breeding operations information through the breeding data management platform (Genovix).
• Ensure proper execution of all breeding operations according to protocols and guidelines, and in constant coordination with relevant stakeholders.
• Develop a germplasm knowledge through relevant field visits and phenotypic characterization.
• Monitor breeding operations progress, inform relevant stakeholders upon significant deviation from plans, and lead the identification and implementation of mitigation measures.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as plant breeding, genetics, or agronomy.
• Strong knowledge of breeding operations, including selfing, crossing, and trialing.
• Excellent communication and project management skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and coordinate with stakeholders.
