About the Role

As a Senior Associate, you will perform activities that include (but are not limited to) preparation of financial statements and corporate tax returns for our entities in LATAM, ultimately owning this compliance for our team. This includes delivery of accurate and complete information to our compliance partners, review of monthly and quarterly tax returns, support statutory external audits, and perform other ad-hoc activities including tax audit support.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for financial reporting and corporate tax compliance in LATAM, ensuring adherence to all deadlines.
  2. Communicate clearly to all stakeholders, particularly your leadership team.
  3. Maintain a project plan and calendar for all compliance deliverables in conjunction with our global compliance partner to ensure adherence to all deadlines.
  4. Understand our business, operating model, and processes in relation to local regulations and requirements. Work closely with our compliance partner to ensure changes to local requirements are communicated and understood.
  5. Work closely with the third-party global compliance partner to ensure accurate and complete information is provided in a timely manner. Manage all requests for information and data to support preparation of reporting deliverables and ad-hoc requests.
  6. Identify process improvements which will increase efficiency or address service levels with the compliance partner as needed.
  7. Actively manage budgeted versus actual compliance fees for assigned entities, communicating any anticipated changes to the respective parties.
  8. Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reporting - ensuring all monthly adjustments to the US GAAP ledger are reviewed by the Reporting Manager.
  9. Responsible for providing explanations on periodical variance analysis of specific entities.
  10. Monitor status on all compliance deadlines on a daily basis and communicate any concerns and anticipated issues to the Reporting Manager, seeking to resolve wherever possible.
  11. Prepare for and participate in weekly compliance calls with the regional team.
  12. Support information requests related to new country and product launches as needed.
  13. Work independently to research and resolve individual inquiries related to such requests liaising with accounting and tax as needed.
  14. Stay abreast of regional reporting developments to ensure requirements, current process, and reporting remain relevant.
  15. Keep up to date on upcoming changes to the compliance landscape and determine how these changes will impact the existing compliance process.
  16. Review statutory GL account reconciliations on a monthly/quarterly basis and preparation of direct and indirect tax US GAAP balance sheet GL account reconciliations on a quarterly basis.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  2. 6+ years of experience in financial reporting, month-end close experience, etc.
  3. Experience with requirements for US GAAP to local statutory conversion and preparation of the monthly US GAAP to STAT adjustments entries
  4. Fluent in Spanish and English
  5. A strong understanding of fundamental accounting concepts, principles, and tax
  6. Team player, ability to work independently, and willingness to take on challenges
  7. Strong communication skills and ability to communicate key information and status to stakeholders
  8. CPA/CA/ACCA or equivalent qualification

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience with Oracle R12 or another large scale ERP
  2. Big 4 experience
