Job Title: Project Lead Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Lead Engineer to join our team at Hitachi Energy. As a Project Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for leading engineering activities for HV/MV substation projects, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead all engineering activities, both in-house and outsourced, during the proposal, design, and construction stages of HV substation projects.
  • Support proposal efforts by introducing and promoting innovation, cost-saving ideas, and value-added solutions to the overall system design concept.
  • Provide expertise and support to the proposal and project teams in validating sub-contractor bids and negotiating sub-contracts for electrical substation and switchyard projects.
  • Prepare, update, and support project execution engineering activities in the schedule, emphasizing on-time delivery, quality of deliverables, and project costs.
  • Evaluate risks and opportunities, strategize mitigation of one's engineering projects/programs, and support the Project Manager in overall project risk and opportunity assessments and implementation of resulting actions.
  • Collaborate on project installation, commissioning, and site activities, clarifying potential issues or providing solutions to correct engineering errors.
  • Perform technical, cost savings, and constructability reviews of design packages from internal engineering, outsourced sub-contractor engineering, and equipment factories.
  • Conform Hitachi Energy bid packages with customer project documents, reviewing customer Request for Proposals/Quotations (RFPs/RFQs) and Hitachi Energy proposals to ensure conformance with the bid package.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineering certification preferred.
  • Good knowledge of related engineering tools and software required to accomplish the task (AutoCAD, CYME, ETAP, CDEGS is an asset).
  • Experience in evaluation of power system study, insulation coordination study, harmonic analysis, and capacitor bank sizing is desirable.
  • Experience with protection single-lines, schematics, protection, and telecommunication interfaces, review of control & protection drawings, CT sizing, relay setting/coordination, is a bonus.
  • Expert knowledge of the benefits and strengths of GIS vs. AIS substations as they relate to reliability, space savings, safety, maintenance, security, aesthetics, life-cycle costs, etc.
