Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Management Specialist to join our team at Turner & Townsend Group. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality cost management services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for all design phases, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor and control project costs, identifying areas for cost savings and implementing effective cost management strategies.
  • Participate in value engineering sessions to optimize project costs and improve overall project value.
  • Prepare and analyze change orders, ensuring that all changes are properly documented and approved.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring that they are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Support the quotation process, providing cost estimates and advice to clients and vendors.
  • Produce cash flow forecasts for internal and client purposes, ensuring that all financial obligations are met.
  • Quantify materials and labor for all phases of a project, ensuring that all costs are accurately accounted for.
  • Prepare cost-benefit analyses, identifying areas where cost savings can be achieved.
  • Review project budgets after design packages are issued, ensuring that all costs are accurately reflected.
  • Collaborate with the creation of recommendation reports, providing cost management advice and guidance.
  • Participate in weekly project and departmental meetings, ensuring that all team members are informed and aligned.
  • Issue weekly progress reports on project costs, including forecasting reimbursable expenses.

Requirements:

  • Degree-qualified or equivalent in Quantity Surveyor, Engineering, or Architecture.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar roles, with a strong understanding of construction costs and project management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the component parts of a project and overall construction costs.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret commercial and technical project documentation.
  • Ability to use a range of IT packages, including Microsoft Office.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and vendors.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong desire to deliver high-quality results.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of the construction process.
  • Negotiation skills and ability to apply those skills internally, externally, and with our supply chain.
  • Positive attitude at all times, with the ability to integrate and play an active part in the construction team.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Keen to pursue personal development needs and maintain up-to-date knowledge.
  • Working towards RICS membership or recently chartered.
  • Conversant in all aspects of quantity surveying.
  • Experience in utilizing software systems, such as CostX, CATO, and BIM Measure.
  • Experience in utilizing Excel at an advanced level.
  • Experience in utilizing AutoCAD.
