Platform Engineering Lead – Application Virtualization Platform

Are you a seasoned Platform Engineering Lead looking for a new challenge? Do you have a passion for Application Virtualization and Cloud technologies? We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our platform engineering team and drive innovation in our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the platform engineering team and set priorities to achieve business goals.
- Provide expertise in Application Virtualization, primarily managing Citrix Virtual Apps/XenApp environments.
- Ensure platform quality through consistent development, testing, and documentation practices.
- Oversee all platform engineering outcomes and focus on continuous improvement.
- Manage budgeting, planning, team motivation, vendor contracts, and Level 3 platform support.
- Establish governance structures and best practices for platform engineering.
- Collaborate on platform architecture and development, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Identify and implement new technology capabilities and support platform system demos.
- Maintain and manage the software infrastructure supporting the platforms.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, and/or Management Information Systems from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience with Agile methods/methodologies and leading SCRUM/Lean/Kanban teams.
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience as a technology engineer, with 7+ years in a role managing platform teams.
- 7+ years of experience deploying Application Virtualization infrastructure using private hosting and public cloud solutions.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Citrix Virtual Apps/XenApp deployment on premises using VMware virtualization and on AWS.
- Designing, planning, deploying, and administering Citrix CVAD, Server Farms, Web Interface, StoreFront, NetScaler, Provisioning Services, Citrix Profile Management, and Citrix Cloud services.
- Active Directory, Group Policy, and DHCP configuration.
- Automation using PowerShell scripting required.
- Troubleshooting related to Citrix XenApp infrastructure.
- 3+ years of experience using public cloud infrastructure (AWS required, Azure desired).
- Proven track record of getting things done in complex organizations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Healthcare/life science/pharmaceutical industry experience required.
- Referenceable leadership, management, or key influencer experiences required.
- Ability to work in an agile and rapid-changing environment with high-quality deliverables.
- Previous experience managing global engineering teams and budgets required.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated presentation, communication, and influencing skills.
- Ability to think outside the box for innovative engineering capabilities.
- Knowledge of information management practices, regulatory requirements, and global data privacy laws related to the pharmaceutical industry.
- Proven knowledge of IT Service Management, Service Operations, and Service Release (ITIL v4 and ITSM).
- Working knowledge of DevOps CI/CD technologies and lifecycle.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Cloud IaaS and PaaS technology environments (AWS and Azure preferred).
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of micro-services concepts, API integration enablement, container technologies, and services (Kubernetes based preferred).
- Proven experience with platform engineering automation lifecycle, leveraging infrastructure as code, configuration management, orchestration, modern patterns, APIs, and site reliability engineering concepts.
- Experience with scripted deployment process, tools, and lifecycle (i.e. Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, Python).
- Ability to drive continuous improvement and experience working with change management or internal communications team.
- Experience working with virtual/Agile teams in different locations, aligning and adapting different work, culture, and communication styles.
- Experience working in a lean and agile software delivery team model.
- Experience managing insourced or outsourced delivery teams as a virtual lead.
