System Engineer Architect

Shape the Future of Mobility

This role is part of our Advanced Safety & User Experience segment in Mexico.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and validate production products and technology to meet customer requirements.
  • Ensure system engineering process deliverables are completed on time and meet Aptiv quality standards.
  • Define system functions and allocate system elements to build the functional architecture.
  • Identify and document product use cases and system functions in product requirement documents.
  • Specify product requirements based on use cases for all engineering competencies.
  • Follow Aptiv design standards, guidelines, best practices, procedures, and policies.
  • Participate in requirement/design peer reviews for projects within the Advanced Safety and User Experience segment.
  • Ensure the logical and systematic transformation of customer requirements into a total system solution.
  • Perform technical planning, analyze & manage requirements, contribute to system architecture & design, and execute system integration tests.
  • Convert customer requirements into product system requirements.
  • Lead and/or perform technical design analysis, trade off studies, FMEAs, design reviews, and customer presentations.
  • Develop innovative and creative solutions to unique engineering challenges.
  • System Engineers are the focal point of technical discussions.
  • Capture, clarify, and prioritize critical ambiguous tasks.
  • Drive process, procedure, and methodology improvements to optimize work efficiency.
  • Analyze and structure system capabilities with customer requests, target vehicle architecture, target cost, and required functionality.
  • Analyze vehicle architecture and evaluate design alternatives.
  • Create architecture strategies with customer requests, target vehicle architecture, target cost, and required functionality in mind.
  • Manage vehicle and vehicle subsystem for customer vehicle variants.
  • Allocate vehicle system requirements of any given product release to physical and logical architecture elements.
  • Responsible for architecture tool chain / process/ method development.
  • Definition of logical and physical vehicle system architecture and actively driving integration of product, SW, HW, and ME.
  • Structure initial frame for SYS.3 work planned for the quote phase.
  • Analyze and structure system capabilities and features based on the system requirements.
  • Analyze and document system design alternatives.
  • Align architecture strategies with Project/Platform Owner.
  • Align system architecture with stakeholders.
  • Allocate system requirements of any given product release to physical and logical architecture elements in advance of scheduled feature development for that release.
  • Definition of logical and physical product system architecture and actively driving integration of SW, HW, and ME.
  • Define system interfaces (internal and external).
Support of:
  • Support initial system DFMEA.
  • Support the Functional Safety Manager on the Technical Safety Concept development.
  • Support the Cyber Security Manager on the Cyber Security Concept development.
  • Support Start Center with initial architecture designs analysis for quote process.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline (computer science, software, systems, computer, or related field of study).
  • 5-8+ years professional experience in Automotive Industry, with background preferably in Electronic (Body Computer, Cluster, Compute, and Zonal ECU) or Embedded software development.
  • Bi-lingual – proficient in English speaking/reading/writing.
  • Proven record of taking customer requirements from design to production.
  • Familiarity with microprocessor/controller-based hardware designs, System/Software Architectures for automotive designs, and network topology.
  • Experience with CAN, Ethernet, LVDS Communication.
  • Experience with embedded hardware and serial communication tools (CANoe, CANape, etc.).
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills, Experience with Structured problem-solving techniques like 3L5Y, Fault Trees, Fishbone diagrams, etc.
  • Familiarity with system/software development processes (Automotive SPICE) and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Polarion, etc.).
  • Functional Safety or Cybersecurity knowledge/background/experience.
  • The ability to communicate complex ideas succinctly and persuasively to peers, management, and customers.
  • Self-motivated, well-organized, flexible, works well with complex issues.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment.
  • Excellent Communication and Leadership skills, bi-lingual speaking/reading/writing.
