About the Role
TikTok is a leading digital platform that inspires creativity and brings joy to its users. As an E-Commerce Counsel, you will play a critical role in supporting our e-commerce initiatives and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice and guidance on e-commerce matters, including consumer protection, product regulation, advertising, marketing, and intellectual property.
- Support the business in understanding and complying with legal and regulatory requirements when launching new products, features, and initiatives.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of TikTok e-commerce initiatives through review of consumer disclosures, product policies, terms and conditions, and support for feature development.
- Review, draft, negotiate, and manage commercial agreements relevant to digital and e-commerce platforms.
- Partner closely with local and international stakeholders in legal, privacy, and public policy to deliver projects against short timeframes.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications: Juris Doctorate from a Mexican law school and a Master of Laws (LLM).
- Strong background in e-commerce, retail, marketplace, and technology industry.
- Solid experience in drafting and negotiation of agreements across the retail, creative, advertising, and technology industries.
- Knowledge of Mexican laws as it applies to platform providers and e-commerce platforms.
- Experience in platform liability, intellectual property, consumer protection, regulatory, and compliance with new technology and e-commerce products and customer/third-party agreements.
- Strong documentation, presentation, and communication skills in a cross-functional and global role.
- Fluent English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience dealing with consumer/regulator complaints/disputes/court action.
- Proven track record of operating independently, working under pressure, strong attention to detail, supporting a heavy volume of transactions across business functions, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Team player, strong collaboration skills, and ability to engage at all levels of the organization.
