This role is based in Acuna / Coahuila (MX-COA), Mexico, serving customers across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Salary Estimate
The estimated salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to over $120,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
About the Role
The Commodity Manager will be responsible for sourcing and procuring high-quality commodities, including castings, electronics, forgings, machined parts, fabrications, plastics, rubber, and standard commodities. This individual will develop and manage commodity strategies to achieve best-in-class results in cost, quality, delivery times, and technology adoption.
Key Responsibilities
- Solve complex problems related to purchasing using creative solutions.
- Analyze purchasing trends and implement strategies based on established procedures and protocols.
- Develop and manage commodity strategies to achieve optimal cost, quality, delivery times, and technology adoption.
- Create and maintain a pool of preferred suppliers for each commodity, ensuring they meet NYAB's requirements.
- Resource production materials to the NYAB global supply base.
- Lead a cross-functional team to improve cost, quality, on-time delivery, and technology adoption.
- Manage material costs and yearly goals for cost reductions through negotiations, resourcing, and product redesign.
- Oversee working capital through supplier payment terms.
- Report to executive management on commodity strategy, performance, market trends, and supply base status.
- Support Program Managers in leading projects for purchasing requirements.
- Ensure system cost data accuracy in SAP, MPI, and TPI, supporting finance in the yearly standard cost roll.
- Manage and maintain supplier NDA's, unique agreements, and legal reviews of supplier documents as needed.
- Continuously improve YOY supplier payment terms and utilize the SEPP program effectively.
Requirements
- Demonstrated project management skills, including setting priorities, identifying risks and opportunities, managing resources, milestones, and costs in a matrix organization.
- Experience in implementing change and sustaining gains.
- Able to influence peers and lead cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with Supply Chain principles, Purchasing, and Supplier Quality.
- Global sourcing experience.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Fundamental knowledge of law in support of T&C's and supplier contracting.
- Deep cross-functional business acumen.
- Presentation skills to communicate effectively with executive leadership.
