Job SummaryThis role involves using advanced computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering (CAE) software to design and analyze composite parts. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing component performance, durability, manufacturability, and cost.
Key Responsibilities- Create detailed CAD models of composite parts using Catia or SolidWorks, taking into account customer performance requirements and iterating designs based on CAE results.
- Perform CAE analysis to optimize component designs and achieve a balance between performance, durability, manufacturability, and cost.
- Prepare design review presentations that include component design details and analysis results.
- Develop and maintain draping plans to produce desired component geometry.
- Collaborate with the global product development team to ensure component designs meet Mubea's standards for performance, durability, and manufacturability.
- Develop alternative design solutions or quick engineering solutions for complex problems.
- Maintain records of all activities and results in the CAE project database.
- Participate in design review meetings to provide recommendations.
- Ensure all work is in compliance with company design, safety, quality, environmental compliance, and procedural standards.
- Communicate with team members and customers on project-related matters.
- Provide timely design guidance and support to the team to meet customer requirements.
- Assist management in establishing and updating project plans and priorities.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization.
- Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) or equivalent; or 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of internet software, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience in 3D CAD design and drawing creation in Catia, SolidWorks, or similar CAD package.
- Knowledge of engineering product design and design for manufacturing.
- Knowledge of inputs, outputs, raw materials, waste, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing the manufacturing and distribution of goods.
- A general knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools, and instruments involved in the production and use of detailed drawings and 3D CAD models.
- Basic knowledge or training in 5's, Lockout & tagout, Hazcom, Plant Safety, ISO 14001, HazWaste, and environmental and quality standards.
- Experience designing composite components for the automotive industry.
- Good understanding of automotive systems such as chassis, body, and suspension.
- Experience using CAE software, including pre and post-processing tools such as ANSA, HyperMesh, HyperView, and solvers such as ABAQUS or ANSYS.
- Experience using scripts (such as in Python) to execute tasks.
- Experience working in an environment where immediate technical support is not always available and problems or issues must be solved independently.
- Experience in automotive manufacturing and/or engineering and sales-driven businesses.
- Experience working in a Germany-based (international) organization.
- Bilingual German/Spanish a plus.
