SGI Global, LLC is a leading provider of professional services in the field of corrections and law enforcement. We are seeking a highly qualified Corrections Advisor to support our team in Mexico City.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned corrections professional to join our team and contribute to our mission of improving corrections systems worldwide. The successful candidate will work closely with our clients in Mexico to provide expert advice and support on corrections matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • The position is based in Mexico City, with travel to other locations in Mexico and beyond as required.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to Mexican correctional facilities on issues related to accreditation, training, and operational best practices.
  • Assess the conditions and operations of prisons in Mexico, identifying areas for improvement and providing recommendations for positive change.
  • Support the development and implementation of professional training standards for corrections staff that meet international standards.
  • Evaluate and assess training requirements in the Mexican Penitentiary System, ensuring that instruction meets international standards.
  • Collaborate with local partners to develop and implement policies and practices for corrections facilities that promote humane and secure detention environments.
  • Prepare background materials and reports used by INL in preparing speeches, briefings, and testimony on corrections.
Requirements

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced corrections professional who can demonstrate:

  • Mexican citizenship
  • FSI Level 3/3 Spanish and FSI level 3/3 English
  • Bachelor's degree in international relations, criminal justice, or social sciences, with at least 5 years of experience in law enforcement and/or corrections institutions, including 2 years of managerial and supervisory experience
  • A demonstrated track record of accomplishment in the specific subject matter requested
  • Ability to pass a U.S. Embassy RSO security background check
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior officials and host-nation counterparts
