We are seeking a highly skilled Project Coordinator to join our team at Sterling Kohler. As a key member of our Technical Communications department, you will be responsible for managing the planning, scheduling, and execution of technical communication requirements for our products.
Key Responsibilities- Project Leadership: Provide strong project leadership in the planning, scheduling, organizing, and team implementation of TechComm deliverables; communicate and negotiate to appropriately apportion time and other resources.
- Technical Content Management: Serve as the primary TechComm representative to product development teams for technical content and literature requirements for assigned projects.
- Project Scope Management: Understand regional and business requirements and determine project scope of Technical Communication deliverables; own the deliverable timing and execution.
- Technical Writing: Have initial development and quality responsibility for technical product literature as assigned – covering product information, installation, use, and/or servicing.
- Process Improvement: Represent department in matters of technical content and usability of publications. Recommend and support maintenance of technical communication requirements, standards, and processes for all publication products.
- Collaboration: Contribute to the advancement of Technical Communication discipline/processes and strategic project execution.
- Professional Development: Solicit from and contribute to profession through external activities.
- Education: Requires a Bachelor's Degree in English, Technical Communications, or other technical discipline along with strong technical writing background.
- Experience: At least 4 years of technical writing experience for product and/or software is required. At least two years experience in plumbing product installation, design, or documentation preferred, but will substitute similar experience in a related technical/manufacturing field.
- Skills: Mechanical aptitude, diagnostic skills, and ability to read drawings is required. Requires computer aptitude and demonstrated writing. Requires demonstrated visualization skills – the ability to translate between two- and three-dimensional data views. Illustration experience a plus. Must be self-motivated. Requires proven interpersonal and team leadership skills. Must demonstrate proficiency at managing complex projects, and ability to adapt to changing priorities. Typing skills are essential for productivity.
- Software Proficiency: Experience authoring within a tagged language (XML/DITA) is REQUIRED. Experience with XML and DITA authoring tools is REQUIRED. Authoring for reuse is REQUIRED. Experience with SAP is PREFERRED. Requires familiarity with InDesign. Illustration experience with CAD or Pro/E, Creo, Adobe Illustrator, or Arbortext IsoDraw a plus. Proficiency with database use and excel spreadsheets required.
