The Community Engineer will play a crucial role in facilitating the work of the Ubuntu community at Canonical, ensuring that community processes are efficient and well-run. This individual will work closely with Canonical teams to coordinate community initiatives and ensure that community members can benefit from Canonical's work.
Key Responsibilities- Support community initiatives with technical skills and strong organizational abilities
- Collaborate with developers to smooth processes and integrate community plans with Canonical plans for maximum impact
- Encourage and facilitate the creation of new technical projects that enhance the community contribution experience
- Represent community interests to Canonical teams
- Support and engage with volunteer developers in the Ubuntu community, addressing their concerns and helping them to create successful tools
- Help ensure the success and autonomy of the project
- Provide content and technical support to ensure the community stays engaged and informed
- Communicate effectively with developers and software engineers, representing the Ubuntu community and Canonical in the wider Linux ecosystem
- Technical skills with Linux
- Experience in DevOps, Software Development, Testing or QA, package management, container technology
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a distributed team
- Opportunity to work with a globally remote team
- Chance to travel 2-4 weeks for internal and external events
- Potential opportunity to travel more if desired
