About the Role:

The Business Risk and Control Analyst is a developing professional role at Citi, responsible for supporting the execution of the Manager Control Assessment (MCA) and ensuring the effective design and management of controls to mitigate risks. This role requires a strong understanding of industry standards and practices, as well as excellent analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Governance and Risk Management: Perform analysis to support the execution of the MCA, including the assessment and approval of risk associated with business changes.
  • Assess Control Framework: Provide support in assessing the quality, completeness, and accuracy of the implementation of the Control Framework, including Risk Control Policy, Control Standard, Issue Management Policy, Lesson Learned Policy, and Control Inventory.
  • Identify and Address Risks: Perform analysis to support the identification of issue root cause, partnering with control and process owners to recommend holistic corrective actions and improvements.
  • Monitor and Report Risks: Assess the implementation of the Lessons Learned Policy, including monitoring of control breaches and dissemination of learnings across other business units for process improvement.
  • Review and Challenge Process: Provide analysis on the review and challenge process, within the FLUs, on the effective design and management of controls to mitigate risks as required by the Control Standards.
  • Operational and Compliance Risk: Assess the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of the MCA through controls prior to the execution of a process (QC) and test adherence to the MCA Standard through controls after the execution of a process (QA).
  • Risk Management: Provide analysis of Operational and Compliance Risk in accordance with established Policy requirements and support in the analysis to identify, assess, escalate, and manage risk exposures across Risk Categories.
  • Risk Appetite and Governance: Evaluate Risk Appetite and monitor/assess exposures against this in accordance with enterprise requirements and provide support in the analysis to identify, assess, record, and respond to Operational and Compliance Risk events.
  • Training and Development: Provide analysis to support that adequate governance and training are in place to support management of Risk profiles and conduct analysis to assess the risks associated with New Activities and changes to the Business.
  • Operational Risk Scenario Analysis: Support operational risk scenario analysis and stress testing for Operational Risk Capital requirements and evaluate risk and control assessments or coordination for programs within various risk stripes.
  • Embedding Risk and Control Responsibilities: Understand that risk and control responsibilities and accountabilities are embedded within FLUs, by participating in training and leading by example.
  • Implementation of Standards and Procedures: Provide support in the implementation of standards and procedures that conform to enterprise requirements and support sound operational and compliance risk management.
  • Business Acumen: Apply knowledge of the business, products, or services to identify and implement control points and processes throughout the business and appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2-5 years relevant experience.
  • Skills: Experience in working with various risk and control systems and reporting requirements, project management skills, excellent organizational skills, ability to multitask and adapt to change, problem solver with the ability to translate plans into actions, consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on MS Excel.
  • Education: Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience.
