Job Summary
Caterpillar is seeking a skilled Design Engineer to join our ICS Global Hydraulics Cylinder Design Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the design, functionality, performance, and integration of hydraulic cylinder products for the manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with global and regional purchasing and manufacturing facility teams to support product quality and cost targets, supplier process audits, sourcing, and process validation.
- Contribute to multiple New Product Introduction (NPI) cylinder development projects, New Technology Integration (NTI) projects, and product cost/quality improvement projects.
- Provide design support for hydraulic cylinder and suspension products, ensuring customer expectations for product cost, quality, and delivery are met.
- Troubleshoot field failures, warranty claims, and factory issues.
- Responsible for detailed drawing release and maintenance, conducting continuous product and process development, and managing the product Bill of Material.
- Align objectives with product groups, suppliers, and manufacturing process partners.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum (preferably Mechanical).
- 1+ years of hydraulics industry experience.
- Familiarity with cylinder component suppliers and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to develop and manage project plans from concept to production.
- Effective communication of technical information with team members and process partners.
- Fluent English.
- Component design expertise on mining and construction equipment.
- Strong analytical skills and experience in designing components to meet machine system performance requirements and cost targets.
- Experience in project management, hands-on Creo, tolerance stack-up, and GD&T.
- Ability to work/lead multiple projects simultaneously and make sound priority decisions.
- A sense of urgency balanced with a strong commitment to quality.
