Job Summary
The Senior Procurement Specialist will be responsible for obtaining the best quality, service, and value for products and services through effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management. This role will identify manufacturing needs, select suppliers, negotiate contracts, and arrange delivery of a high volume and variety of parts, equipment, services, and materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and recommend suppliers by investigating potential suppliers, researching parts, equipment, machinery, services, and materials availability, and developing a potential bidder list.
- Conduct supplier site visits and evaluate them based on production capability, performance, delivery, and other key business criteria.
- Purchase parts, equipment, and materials by preparing request for quotations and submitting purchase orders with approved suppliers.
- Evaluate bids for standard and non-standard items, select suppliers for moderately complex or technical materials, supplies, or services, and negotiate price, delivery, quality, and service.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, advise on impending supplier failure to fulfill contractual agreements, and resolve shipment quality discrepancies.
- Negotiate and settle damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes with suppliers.
- Prepare moderately complex reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, and provide parts, equipment, and materials information by answering questions and requests.
- Apply continuous improvement techniques and methods to internal processes and systems to increase efficiency and customer service and reduce costs.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing trade publications, establishing networks, and participating in professional associations.
- Comply with federal, state, and aerospace industry regulations, ensure adherence to requirements, and advise management on needed actions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.
- Experience in purchasing and negotiation methods, principles, and concepts.
- Knowledge of industry practices, general business operations, and policies.
- Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to procurement.
