Key Role in Strategic Sourcing

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Sourcing Specialist to join our team at oilandgas. This position is part of the Corporate Indirect Procurement Operating Supplies Category Strategy Team (CST). As a key procurement role, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to optimize total cost of ownership for indirect sourcing categories.

About the Role

This is a hybrid role, with a mix of strategic planning, category management, and supplier engagement. You will work closely with the Buying Operations Team and functional stakeholders to ensure alignment and support of category strategy creation and execution. Your goal will be to drive a singular approach to supplier management across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop robust commodity strategies for the Category Strategy Team, considering quality, cost, speed, and service requirements, market conditions, risks, and exposures.
  2. Partner with the Buying Operations Team and functional stakeholders to ensure alignment and support of category strategy creation and execution.
  3. Consolidate fragmented site spend, reduce the use of non-strategic suppliers, and move procurement activities upstream in the lifecycle of a solution to bring greater value to oilandgas.
  4. Reduce complexity and increase leverage with the supply base to drive incremental value and cost reduction.
  5. Execute the annual operating plan through year-over-year improvements in productivity, working capital, quality, delivery, and supply continuity.
  6. Negotiate and execute supply agreements with strategic suppliers capable of providing solutions that meet established business requirements and follow the global commodity strategies.
  7. Act as the Sourcing/Procurement single point of contact for internal stakeholders.
  8. Improve internal customer satisfaction and overall organizational performance.
  9. Build strong technical solutions, including new technology, value analysis/ engineering, cost engineering, and product improvements with the supply base.
  10. Participate in and ensure success with Zero-Based Budgeting.
  11. Engage with business and functional leadership to align on business needs and objectives and communicate performance/results.
  12. Develop and lead site productivity reviews and kaizen strategy events/initiatives focused on supplier productivity, working capital, and value generation.
  13. Build a thorough understanding of oilandgas purchasing processes, policies, and procedures to drive process and policy improvements to enable indirect sourcing efficiencies and business results.
  14. Invoice resolution, problem-solving, and continuous improvement focus.
  15. Training experience with requestors to drive compliance and improve process.
  16. Present results and develop action plans to mitigate any gaps to financial targets.

Requirements

  1. 7+ years of relevant strategic sourcing experience, including at least 4 years in an indirect procurement function at a multinational corporation with global contracts.
  2. Experience managing indirect procurement categories like MRO, PVF, R&M, Industrial Gases, Calibration, Rentals & Leases, etc.
  3. In-depth experience in best-in-class procurement practices (category management, benchmarking, should-cost models, RFX, reverse auction, contracting, etc.).
  4. Strong negotiator with proven experience in setting negotiation strategies and conducting negotiations.
  5. iValua and/or Ariba experience.
