Systems Engineering Architect

INFLUENCE THE FUTURE OF AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY FROM THE START.

This role is integral to our Advanced Safety & User Experience division.

Overview:

As a Systems Engineering Architect, you will be responsible for the design, development, and validation of production technologies and products, ensuring that they meet customer specifications regarding capability, cost, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and validate innovative products and technologies to meet customer specifications.
  • Ensure timely completion of systems engineering deliverables in accordance with project timelines while adhering to quality standards.
  • Define system functions and allocate system elements to establish a robust functional architecture.
  • Document product use cases and system functions within product requirement documentation.
  • Specify product requirements based on identified use cases across all engineering disciplines.
  • Adhere to established design standards, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Participate in peer reviews of requirements and designs for projects within the Advanced Safety and User Experience sector.
  • Transform customer requirements into comprehensive system solutions that align with scheduling, technical, and cost constraints.
  • Conduct technical planning, manage requirements, contribute to system architecture and design, and perform system integration testing.
  • Lead technical design analyses, trade-off studies, and customer presentations during the sourcing phase.
  • Develop creative solutions to complex engineering challenges by leveraging your technical expertise and experience.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for technical discussions, driving collaboration across teams while reporting to management and clients.
  • Capture, clarify, and prioritize critical tasks effectively.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance team and organizational efficiency.
  • Analyze system capabilities in relation to customer requests, vehicle architecture, cost targets, and required functionalities.
  • Evaluate design alternatives based on vehicle architecture.
  • Formulate architecture strategies considering customer needs and vehicle requirements.
  • Manage vehicle and subsystem requirements for various customer vehicle variants.
  • Allocate system requirements to both physical and logical architecture elements for product releases.
  • Oversee the development of architecture tools, processes, and methodologies.
  • Define both logical and physical vehicle system architecture, ensuring integration of product, software, hardware, and mechanical elements.
  • Structure initial frameworks for planned work phases.
  • Analyze and document system design alternatives.
  • Align architecture strategies with project stakeholders.
  • Define system interfaces, both internal and external.

Support Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the initial system DFMEA.
  • Collaborate with the Functional Safety Manager on developing the Technical Safety Concept.
  • Support the Cyber Security Manager in formulating the Cyber Security Concept.
  • Provide initial architecture design analysis for the quoting process.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (e.g., computer science, software, systems).
  • 5-8+ years of professional experience in the automotive sector, preferably in electronic or embedded software development.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Proven ability to translate customer requirements into production-ready designs.
  • Familiarity with microprocessor/controller-based hardware designs and automotive system/software architectures.
  • Experience with communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, and LVDS.
  • Knowledge of embedded hardware and serial communication tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Familiarity with automotive development processes and tools.
  • Knowledge of functional safety or cybersecurity principles.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and adaptable to complex challenges.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Passionate about developing innovative automotive solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Systems or a related engineering field.
  • Experience with microcontroller/embedded system design.
  • Skills in troubleshooting and debugging hardware/software.
  • Familiarity with customer requirements management tools.
  • Basic programming knowledge.
  • Experience in Agile development environments.
  • Knowledge of vehicle communication protocols.
  • Experience with automotive diagnostics.
