Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Project Manager with expertise in cost control to join our team. This role will be responsible for overseeing project estimations, monitoring valuations, and participating in value engineering sessions. The successful candidate will have a strong background in quantity surveying, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Prepare accurate and comprehensive project estimates in accordance with design phase requirements.
  2. Monitor and control project valuations, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  3. Participate in value engineering sessions to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  4. Analyse change orders and develop recommendations for approval.
  5. Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring alignment with client expectations.
  6. Collaborate with vendors to establish progress measurement criteria and collect relevant data.
  7. Conduct market research to inform cost management strategies.
  8. Support the quotation process by responding to questions from services/materials proponents.
  9. Predict cash flow forecasts for internal and client purposes.
  10. Quantify materials and labour requirements for all project phases.
  11. Prepare cost-benefit analyses to inform decision-making.
  12. Review and update project budgets after design package issuance.
  13. Collaborate on the creation of recommendation reports.
  14. Participate in regular project and departmental meetings.
  15. Issue weekly progress reports on project costs, including forecasting reimbursable expenses.
Qualifications and Skills
  1. Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or Architecture, or equivalent experience.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in similar roles, preferably in the construction industry.
  3. Strong knowledge and understanding of project components and overall construction costs.
  4. Ability to analyse and interpret commercial and technical project documentation.
  5. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.
  6. Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
  7. Self-motivated and proactive, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
  8. Commercial awareness and understanding of the construction process.
  9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  10. Negotiation skills, with the ability to apply them in various contexts.
  11. Positive attitude and ability to integrate into the construction team.
  12. Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  13. Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
  14. Fluent English language skills.
Desirable Qualifications
  1. Working towards RICS membership or recently chartered.
  2. Comprehensive knowledge of quantity surveying principles and practices.
  3. Experience in utilising software systems such as CostX, CATO, BIM Measure.
  4. Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to manipulate complex data sets.
  5. Experience in utilising AutoCAD.
