Are you a seasoned professional with a passion for internal controls and compliance? We're seeking a talented individual to join our team as Head of Internal Controls Mexico. In this role, you'll be responsible for driving the risk, control, and audit compliance agenda across Diageo Mexico, with a focus on commercial processes. You'll work closely with our management team to deliver a best-in-class control environment, increase control and compliance awareness, and coordinate the smooth delivery of internal control procedures.

Purpose of the role

The overall purpose of this role is to bring strong subject matter expertise on SOX compliance and internal controls to the Mexico market, specifically focused on the Go-to-market strategy and commercial practices. You'll support the management team in delivering outstanding control environments, increase control and compliance awareness, and coordinate the smooth delivery of internal control procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the risk, control, and audit compliance agenda across Diageo Mexico, with a focus on commercial processes.
  • Support the management team in delivering a best-in-class control environment, increase control and compliance awareness, and coordinate the smooth delivery of internal control procedures.
  • Drive continuous process improvement and transformation agenda.
  • Obtain a strong understanding of Mexico business across various processes, with an initial focus on commercial processes.
  • Closely engage with Diageo Mexico customers, sales, and marketing teams to ensure they are aligning with applicable Diageo policies.
  • Identify challenges early, update the regional CFO, and define and drive practical solutions that ensure a balance between compliance and business enablement.
  • Understand the tools and technologies supporting various processes, evaluate and handle risks embedded within them.
  • Drive assurance agenda for the areas under scope.
  • Build up a strong key partner relationship with senior leaders across processes and provide regular updates and improved advice on areas that need improvement to strengthen the overall control environment.
  • Provide business leads with potential areas of opportunities so they have the necessary time and resources to implement a robust remediation plan for identified issues.
  • Leverage domain expertise and collaborate with internal leaders to identify new/emerging risks and develop strategies to mitigate associated risks.
  • Support new business initiatives and projects with a lens of risk, controls, and compliance.
  • Ensure that controls and risks are adequately covered during transitions such as changes in processes, business strategy changes, or new technology implementations.
  • Support investigations in the market with a focus on root cause analysis.
  • Monitor all audit and controls deficiencies related to the scope area to ensure timely and effective remediation.
  • Amplify findings from deficiencies across the region through communications, training, etc.
  • Provide support during internal (CARE) and external assurance work (PWC) covering both audits, controls testing, and risk management work.
  • Provide updates/inputs to the Controls Assurance Director for the ARC/AC Reporting.
  • Be an extended part of the Global Controls Assurance team and bring valuable insight that will build a positive impact in the market.
  • Develop a team of high-potential professionals/managers and build an environment that will set them up for success.
