About the Role

CIMMYT is seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join our team in the Financial Planning Unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing financial analysis and planning support to ensure the effective management of our resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the annual budget process, ensuring accurate and timely financial planning and reporting.
  • Support the development and maintenance of chargeback rates and costing manuals.
  • Perform monthly indirect cost and chargeback analysis, identifying areas for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting support for BISA (Borlaug Institute for South Asia) projects.
  • Develop and maintain institutional templates for financial planning and reporting, including historical data and forecasts.
  • Upload budget data for support and institutional units into the Microsoft Dynamics 'AX' system.
  • Monitor expenses and control variations to ensure compliance with budget targets.
  • Prepare and disseminate monthly and quarterly financial management information and reports.
  • Conduct mid-year budget revisions and analysis, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Support the maintenance of institutional master data in the system, including new project codes and expense categories.
  • Manage large databases in Excel to provide financial analysis and insights.
  • Contribute to the development of reporting formats and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Prepare accurate financial reports in compliance with international and other standards and agreements.
  • Support the integration of the Integrate Management Reporting Package (IMRP) on a monthly basis.
  • Collaborate with various departments to obtain necessary information for budget analysis.
  • Support financial information and reporting manager activities.
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests for financial information.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in finance, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and expenses analysis.
  • Knowledge of financial systems, ERP, MS Office, managing large databases, data extraction methods, report presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing relevant and timely financial management information, including the use of visual information.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify financial trends.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and plan.
  • Proactive and flexible, able to handle conflicting priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Excellent communication skills and high level of attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish, with good written/oral communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse nationalities, under pressure, and as a member of a diverse work team.
  • The candidate must exhibit a sense of urgency and commitment to responsibilities and deadlines.
