We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team at the San Felipe Pueblo School Clinic. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient services and supporting the dental team in delivering high-quality care to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Dentists and Hygienists: Provide chair-side assistance during dental procedures, including preparing patients, sterilizing instruments, and maintaining a clean and organized clinic environment.
- Patient Care: Take patient medical histories, document patient information, and relay pertinent information to providers. Obtain patient vital signs and provide data to providers for further follow-up.
- Front Desk and Administrative Tasks: Greet patients, check them in for appointments, and obtain signatures on required forms and consents. Answer incoming phone calls, make appointments, and update patient information as needed.
- Support Providers and Patients: Assist providers during examinations and procedures, complete tasks as delegated within scope of practice, and provide patient education instructions and handouts as instructed by providers.
- Maintain Clinic Organization: Order necessary supplies, keep the clinic/operatory area clean and in operative condition, and properly sterilize instruments.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Successful completion of a dental assisting education program that meets or exceeds credentialing standards.
- Experience: Prefer one (1) year of dental assisting experience.
- Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver's license, currently certified dental assistant in New Mexico or National Dental Assistant Certification (DANB), New Mexico Radiology Certification, and current CPR Certificate.
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those required by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Predominately works in school clinic, San Felipe Elementary School or Head Start program. Flexibility in work location is expected due to working in various locations within the Pueblo of San Felipe, dependent on the needs of the community.
