We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to lead the development of our API ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience architecting and building robust, scalable, and secure APIs. We work with Elixir (with Phoenix and Ecto) but we value general skills and a willingness to learn more than specific knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define API requirements and specifications.
  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable and secure APIs.
  • Implement secure APIs, including authentication and authorization.
  • Optimize API performance and reliability through monitoring, testing, and tuning.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of experience in API design and development.
  • Experience in programming languages such as Elixir, Ruby, Java, Python, or others.
  • Expert understanding of RESTful API design principles and best practices.
  • Experience with API security protocols (e.g., OAuth, JWT).
  • Familiarity with API management platforms and tools (e.g., Swagger, Postman).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience working in a startup environment.
  • Experience with JSON:API and/or GraphQL.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
