Job Summary
TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams play a crucial role in driving LEANPD focused new product development initiatives. They strive for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods while exploring innovative manufacturing solutions to enhance process and tolerance control. Acting as a vital link between product development and manufacturing engineering, they ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of this essential interface.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Product Development by optimizing designs and components for manufacturability, and by creating sample tooling, product samples, and prototypes.
- Tooling and Process Development: Design, develop, and qualify tooling and both manual and automated processes for high-speed products, ensuring compliance with TE quality and production standards.
- Implementation of New Manufacturing Technologies: Actively pursue the integration of new manufacturing technologies to enhance process and tolerance control, thereby improving overall manufacturing capabilities.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends, driving the adoption of innovative solutions to elevate manufacturing performance.
- New Product Introduction (NPI): Lead the effective transition of new products from Engineering to Manufacturing Operations, ensuring seamless integration of processes and systems.
- LEANPD Driven New Product Development: Play a pivotal role in LEANPD driven new product development projects, ensuring adherence to Lean principles throughout.
- Serve as a high-level process leader for high-speed products, overseeing cutting, stamping, molding, cable assembly, and other manufacturing processes to ensure optimal quality and output.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Engage with Product Development Engineering, Program Management, Quality Assurance, Production, Supply Chain, and other departments to ensure alignment and effective communication.
- Interface Between Product Development and Manufacturing Engineering: Act as a key element in facilitating communication and collaboration between product development and manufacturing engineering to optimize designs for manufacturability.
Qualifications
- A degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in high-speed cable manufacturing, particularly in cable assemblies for data centers, AI, and supercomputing.
- Proficient in applicable systems such as SAP, TLM, and CAD, with familiarity in regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Strong understanding of industry document specifications like US-CAR & IPC620.
- In-depth knowledge of cable manufacturing technology, stamping and plating technology, HSG molding technology, and characteristics of metal and plastic raw materials.
- Experience in product tolerance analysis and stability verification through data analysis processes, such as CPK.
- Expertise in the product development process, capable of providing DFM, SOP, PFMEA, BOP, and CTAR as required for each project phase.
- Working knowledge of manual, semi-automatic, and automatic assembly processes.
