Director of AWS Infrastructure

We are seeking a Director of AWS Infrastructure & DevOps to lead enterprise-scale cloud transformation and operational excellence across AWS environments. This strategic role will focus on building and mentoring high-performing teams, establishing scalable frameworks, and driving innovation in infrastructure automation, DevOps culture, and cloud governance.

As a senior technology leader, you will oversee global AWS initiatives, partner with business and engineering leaders to define cloud strategies, and champion Infrastructure-as-Code, FinOps, and security best practices. You will set the vision for a resilient, high-performance, and cost-optimized AWS ecosystem that enables the business to innovate and scale securely.

What You'll Do

• Leadership & Strategy
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing global team of AWS and DevOps engineers focused on infrastructure scalability, security, and automation.
• Define and execute the enterprise AWS infrastructure strategy, aligning with organizational goals and cloud adoption roadmaps.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration between application, security, and architecture teams to ensure unified DevOps practices and consistent delivery standards.
• Establish a center of excellence (CCoE) for AWS infrastructure and DevOps, codifying patterns, reusable frameworks, and best practices.
• Technical Oversight & Architecture
• Oversee design, implementation, and operations of AWS infrastructure services including EC2, S3, RDS, EKS/ECS, Lambda, CloudFront, and networking components.
• Lead modernization and migration programs from on-premises data centers to AWS, ensuring scalability, resilience, and security across environments.
• Champion Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) at scale using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and AWS CDK, embedding compliance and cost controls into deployment pipelines.
• Guide containerization, CI/CD, and serverless initiatives using AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and Kubernetes/EKS.
• Governance, FinOps & Security
• Partner with finance and product leadership to implement FinOps practices—optimizing for performance, cost, and sustainability across workloads.
• Establish governance, compliance, and security baselines leveraging AWS IAM, KMS, GuardDuty, Config, Security Hub, and Control Tower.
• Oversee monitoring, observability, and incident-response capabilities using CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and third-party AIOps platforms.
• Innovation & Continuous Improvement
• Drive adoption of modern cloud-native architectures, including microservices, event-driven, and hybrid cloud solutions.
• Promote a culture of learning, automation, and continuous improvement through mentoring, knowledge-sharing, and innovation initiatives.
• Partner with senior leadership to evaluate emerging AWS technologies, assessing fit for enterprise adoption and competitive advantage.

What You'll Bring

Core Qualifications

• 12+ years in IT infrastructure, operations, or cloud engineering; 5+ years in a leadership capacity managing technical teams.
• Proven success leading large-scale AWS migrations and infrastructure modernization programs.
• Deep technical knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS/ECS, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation) and DevOps automation tooling.
• Experience establishing DevOps governance, IaC frameworks, and multi-account AWS architectures (Landing Zones, Control Tower, Organizations).
• Demonstrated ability to build and mentor distributed teams and foster a DevOps culture across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of security, compliance, and cost-optimization practices (FinOps, Savings Plans, RI management).
• Executive-level communication skills with the ability to influence C-suite and business leaders.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.
• Experience with multi-cloud strategies (Azure, GCP) and hybrid architectures.
• Familiarity with modern observability, AI-driven automation, and platform engineering practices.
• Expertise in Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation and orchestration.
