We are building a world-class manufacturing operation and are looking for a Purchasing Manager who goes beyond transactions and acts as a true strategist in developing our critical supply base. Position Mission
The Purchasing & Supplier Development Manager will be responsible for building SHPAC's procurement function from the ground up. This role will identify, audit, and develop strategic suppliers specialized in Machining, Welding, Painting, and Assembly, ensuring quality, cost competitiveness, and on-time delivery of all components and services.
Key Responsibilities
Supply Strategy: Design and implement sourcing and procurement strategies to ensure operational continuity for the new plant.
Technical Supplier Development:
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers with strong capabilities in CNC Machining, Industrial Welding, Industrial Painting (liquid/powder), and Assembly services.
- Conduct technical and capacity audits to ensure suppliers meet SHPAC's quality standards.
- Negotiate long-term contracts and strategic agreements to secure best value.
Supply Chain Management: Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery, cost) and lead continuous improvement plans.
Cost Control: Generate savings through negotiation, market analysis, and supplier base optimization.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering and Production teams to define technical specifications for materials and components.
Required Profile
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or similar).
Minimum 5 years of experience in Purchasing, Procurement, or Strategic Sourcing, with a strong focus on technical materials and services.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including:
- Machining (ability to read drawings, GD&T, and material specs)
- Welding (certifications and quality standards)
- Industrial Painting (coating thickness, adhesion testing, and specifications)
- Complex Assembly subcontracting
Advanced negotiation, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills.
Advanced experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office.
Based in or willing to relocate to León, Guanajuato.
Advanced business English (able to negotiate and communicate technically with international suppliers).
