The Role

As a Mainframe Systems Specialist , you will provide advanced programming and subsystem support for mainframe operating systems and DBDC environments. This role is critical to ensuring system stability, compliance, and optimization across zOS , zVM , and zLinux platforms. You will lead root cause analysis (RCA) discussions, drive automation initiatives, and mentor junior team members while collaborating with global teams to maintain business continuity.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee administration and optimization of mainframe systems ( zOS , zVM , zLinux ) following best practices.

• Ensure system availability, patch compliance, and adherence to regulatory requirements.

• Monitor and control systems from the main console, proactively identifying risks and improvement opportunities.

• Plan, execute, and review batch operations, driving automation and efficiency.

• Lead lifecycle management of media, including migration, archival, and secure disposal.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support disaster recovery and business continuity.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

• Participate in functional program planning and influence decisions across departments.

Who You Are

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years in mainframe operations or media management, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role.

• Deep expertise in mainframe environments ( zOS , zVM , zLinux ) and media lifecycle management.

• Proven track record in process improvements, automation, and compliance initiatives.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

• English proficiency : Intermediate to advanced ( required for global communication and documentation).

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.

• Certifications in ITIL, mainframe technologies, or media management.

• Experience with VTS IBM.
