Position Summary
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for executing strategic sourcing activities, supplier management, and purchasing processes to ensure the timely supply of materials and services required for manufacturing operations. This role focuses on cost optimization, supplier performance improvement, contract negotiation, and risk mitigation within the supply chain.
The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Quality, Production, and Logistics to support operational continuity and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Procurement
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for direct and indirect materials.
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and service performance.
- Lead RFQs, supplier benchmarking, and commercial evaluations.
Supplier Management
- Maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Support supplier development initiatives to ensure long-term reliability.
Cost Optimization & Negotiation
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, and contractual conditions.
- Drive cost reduction projects through TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) analysis.
- Support annual cost-down targets and budget control.
Supply Chain Risk & Continuity
- Identify supply risks and implement mitigation plans to prevent line stoppages.
- Ensure critical materials availability and manage shortages or urgent supply constraints.
- Coordinate expedited shipments only when necessary and aligned with business priorities.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering on specification changes and sourcing decisions.
- Support Quality on supplier claims, 8D requests, and non-conformance resolution.
- Coordinate with Logistics and Planning teams to align purchasing with production demand.
Compliance & Process Improvement
- Ensure procurement compliance with company policies and audit requirements.
- Maintain accurate purchasing documentation, contracts, and supplier records.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of purchasing processes and KPI tracking.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in procurement, strategic purchasing, or supply chain roles.
- Experience in automotive manufacturing or industrial environments preferred.
- Strong background managing suppliers and high-volume purchasing operations.
Skills
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- ERP systems knowledge (QAD, SAP, Oracle, or similar) is a plus.
- English proficiency required; Mandarin is a plus.
