We are seeking a senior-level Azure Local & AVD expert to own the design, deployment, and operational excellence of these environments.

Role Overview

This role is responsible for the architecture, deployment, and lifecycle management of Azure Local (Azure Stack HCI) environments running Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) at scale. You will work closely with Arcadion's Cloud, Security, and Field Engineering teams to deliver enterprise-grade VDI platforms for healthcare, government, and commercial clients.

You will be the technical authority for everything related to:

• Azure Local clusters
• Azure Arc integration
• AVD session hosts, images, and policies
• GPU-accelerated VDI
• High-availability, security, and performance optimization

Core Responsibilities

Azure Local & Infrastructure

• Design and deploy Azure Local (Azure Stack HCI) clusters
• Configure Azure Arc, cluster registration, and hybrid management
• Implement software-defined storage (S2D), networking, and failover clustering
• Integrate with Arcadion private cloud, backup, and DR platforms
• Support GPU-enabled hosts (NVIDIA A-series, MIG, vGPU)

Azure Virtual Desktop

• Architect and deploy AVD host pools (pooled & personal)
• Build and manage golden images using Azure Image Builder or Packer
• Implement FSLogix, profile containers, and session optimization
• Configure scaling plans, autoscaling, and cost controls
• Optimize for Teams, multimedia redirection, and clinical apps

Security & Compliance

• Implement Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, and RBAC
• Secure AVD and Azure Local using Microsoft Defender and Arc-enabled policies
• Align with healthcare and regulated frameworks (HIPAA, PHIPA, ISO 27001, NIST)
• Implement network segmentation, Zero Trust, and endpoint hardening

Operations & Automation

• Monitor AVD and Azure Local using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Sentinel
• Automate patching, image updates, and scaling via PowerShell, Bicep, or Terraform
• Perform root-cause analysis for performance, login, and stability issues
• Maintain runbooks, diagrams, and client-facing documentation

Client Delivery

• Lead deployments for 100+ to 5,000+ user VDI environments
• Support healthcare, call center, engineering, and hybrid workforce use cases
• Provide Tier-3 escalation support to Arcadion SOC and MSP teams

Required Experience

• 7+ years in Windows infrastructure, virtualization, or cloud engineering
• 3+ years hands-on with Azure Virtual Desktop
• Strong experience with Azure Local (Azure Stack HCI)
• Deep knowledge of:
• Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID
• Hyper-V, Failover Clustering
• FSLogix, RDP, profile management
• Azure networking (ExpressRoute, VPN, private endpoints)
• Experience running VDI for healthcare, financial, or regulated clients

Highly Preferred

• Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-140, AZ-305, or AZ-800/801)
• Experience with GPU-based VDI (NVIDIA vGPU, A-series, or MIG)
• Experience with Citrix, VMware Horizon, or W365 migration projects
• Experience integrating AVD with M365, Teams, and clinical systems
• PowerShell automation expertise
