How will you make an impact in this role?

American Express, one of the world's most iconic brands, is inviting experienced communications professionals to apply for a position to join its award-winning Corporate Affairs and Communications team.

Based in Mexico City, this position reports to the Corporate Affairs and Communications Director in Mexico. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing engaging external narratives and PR for the business and staff areas in the country.

The candidate must be an excellent storyteller, and able to bring to life how American Express backs its customers and partners. Experience in content creation through a variety of media is necessary.

Key Responsibilities

1.    Develop communication strategies to position American Express narratives.

2.    Lead multiplatform (still & video) content developing to support communication strategies

3.    Develop PR (including external speaking opportunities) plans to support Amex's narratives.

4.    Roll out and local editorial content development for Amex external channels.

5.    Build and foster strong relationships with key stakeholders including colleagues, media, partners and industry.

6.    Draft speeches and presentations on behalf of senior leadership, ensuring American Express´ narratives, internal and externally

7.    Work in partnership with social media, CSR, and colleague communications to deliver a fully integrated communications approach.

8.    Serve as a member of the Advertising Review Board, representing CA&C.

Minimum Qualifications:

-    A minimum of five years of experience in a broad communications group. Proved experience on new PR/Communications tools usage is indispensable. 

-    Strong editorial mindset, a natural storyteller and excellent ability to develop narratives and messages for both internal and external use.

-    Must be bilingual and be comfortable with writing colleague communications both, in Spanish and English

-    A creative and strategic problem solver, a self-starter and a proven track-records to drive tangible communication results, backed up with data & analysis

-    Outstanding oral, visual and written communications

-    Outstanding interpersonal skills to deal with all levels in the organization

-    Sound judgment and a strategic thinker

-    Strong background in developing and implementing communication strategies

-    Ability to work in short timeframes and within changing priorities 

-    Ability to work within a matrix environment

-    Relevant communications related degree qualification (or equivalent)

-    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

-    Excellent attention to detail.

-    Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

-    Self-motivated team player with proven ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues across a company.

-    A willingness to learn.

-    Must be able to work in a strong collegiate team environment.

-    Experience with working in a communication agency or an editorial organization is a plus

-    Oriented to results and metrics.
