About the Australian Government's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
The role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to advance the interests of Australia and Australians internationally. This involves strengthening Australia's security, enhancing Australia's prosperity, delivering an effective and high-quality overseas aid program, and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas.
The department provides foreign, trade and development policy advice to the Australian Government. DFAT also works with other Australian government agencies to drive coordination of Australia's pursuit of global, regional, and bilateral interests.
The Australian Embassy in Mexico is also accredited to all Central America (except Belize), the Dominican Republic and Cuba.
About the position
Provides support to the Public Diplomacy officer to assist with major events associated with the celebration of 60 years of diplomatic relations, as well as assisting with social media and broader communications activities.
The internship is for a period of three-months. The position requires a maximum of 37.5 hours per week, with flexible scheduling available Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Work Authorization Requirements
This position is open to individuals with work permission in Mexico who speak both Spanish and English.
Please note, the Embassy will not sponsor any work visas for this position.
Additional Information
This position requires a probity check to be completed. Employment in the advertised position is dependent on the employee having or acquiring a valid DFAT probity check. Probity checks can take some time to process, and employment cannot be commenced until an appropriate check is confirmed. There is no guarantee that the successful candidate for the position will be successful in obtaining a probity check. The inability to obtain a probity check prevents that applicant from being employed and loss of a probity check at any time will lead to termination of employment.
In addition, the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs requires all local employees, Mexican nationals or foreigners to obtain accreditation in order to perform work services for foreign entities and International Organizations. The accreditation will be requested by the Embassy once the successful candidate is identified.
APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN ENGLISH.
