Accountant – Fiscal

We are seeking a licensed Accountant based in Mérida, Yucatán with strong fiscal and tax expertise and a highly organized, tech-savvy, and operational mindset.

While the day-to-day accounting and tax workload is minimal, deep knowledge of Mexican tax law, SAT compliance, and local fiscal strategies in Yucatán is a non-negotiable requirement. This role is primarily focused on operations, systems, reporting, and oversight, using accounting expertise to ensure accuracy, compliance, and control across the business.

This is not a traditional accounting role. It is an operations-driven position where accounting knowledge is applied to supervise, audit, validate, and support decision-making.

Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting and Tax Oversight (Critical Expertise)

• Ensure full compliance with SAT regulations, including ISR, IVA, filings, and ongoing obligations.
• Review, validate, and audit accounting records and financial data.
• Apply local Yucatán tax knowledge and fiscal judgment to operational and financial decisions.
• Coordinate with external accounting firms or advisors when applicable.
• Identify fiscal risks, inconsistencies, or compliance issues proactively.

Operations, Systems, and Reporting Oversight (Primary Role)

• Navigate and manage accounting software, CRM systems, and internal operational tools.
• Review, validate, and oversee company-wide financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
• Review and audit sales reporting, including revenue tracking, commissions, performance metrics, and data integrity.
• Ensure alignment between sales data, financial records, and management reports.
• Create, maintain, and improve financial, operational, and sales performance reports.
• Monitor cash flow, expenses, and profitability across business units.
• Oversee and audit construction projects, including budgets, costs, timelines, and financial controls.
• Support project management, task tracking, and internal process organization.
• Identify inefficiencies, reporting gaps, financial leaks, or operational risks and propose corrective actions.
• Perform miscellaneous operational and administrative tasks, including travel within Mérida as needed.

Mandatory Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

• Current residency in Mérida, Yucatán.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Proven knowledge of:
• Mexican tax law
• SAT compliance and reporting
• Local fiscal considerations in Yucatán
• Fluent English, both spoken and written.
• Experience working with accounting software, CRM systems, and digital reporting tools.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven.
• Reliable high-speed internet connection.
• Personal laptop or computer suitable for professional work.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within Mérida for operational or administrative tasks.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with structure, accountability, and discretion.

Important Clarification

This role is not focused on:

• High-volume bookkeeping
• Data entry or transactional accounting
• A narrow accounting-only function

This is a strategic operations and reporting role where accounting and tax expertise provide the foundation for financial control, reporting accuracy, and informed decision-making.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20,000.00 per month
