Global EHS Generalist – Subject Matter Expert

The EHS Generalist – SME is responsible for providing technical expertise across all EHSS domains, supporting global execution teams, and driving continuous improvement in environmental, health, safety, and sustainability performance. This role requires strong technical knowledge, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to operate in a dynamic, global environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a technical expert in EHSS topics including ISO systems, risk assessments, industrial hygiene, product stewardship, and sustainability.
  • Support global teams in implementing EHSS programs, standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Lead or contribute to initiatives in carbon reduction, water and energy efficiency, and ESG reporting.
  • Conduct or support audits, incident investigations, and regulatory assessments.
  • Provide guidance on chemical management, PPE, confined spaces, ergonomics, and high-risk work.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, supply chain) to integrate EHSS into business processes.
  • Monitor and interpret global regulatory changes and emerging risks.
  • Support training, awareness, and capability-building across regions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in EHS, Sustainability, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in EHSS roles, preferably in manufacturing or

automotive.

  • Strong knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, and global EHS regulations.
  • Experience with industrial hygiene, product compliance, and sustainability metrics.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages preferred.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or professional certifications (CIH, CSP, LEED, etc.).
  • Experience with ESG frameworks (GRI, CDP, SASB).
  • Familiarity with Aptiv's EHS Operating System and metrics.
