QA Data Engineer (BI / Data Quality)

About the Role

We are looking for a
QA Data Engineer
with prior experience in
Business Intelligence (BI) quality teams
. This role focuses on validating, testing, and ensuring the accuracy of data and dashboards used for business reporting. You will work closely with BI developers, data engineers, and stakeholders to guarantee high data quality and reliable insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform
    data validation and quality testing
    for BI reports and dashboards
  • Validate data pipelines and transformations using
    SQL Server
  • Write and execute
    SQL scripts
    to reconcile, test, and validate data across sources
  • Test
    Power BI dashboards
    , datasets, and semantic models to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Identify, document, and track data defects and inconsistencies
  • Collaborate with BI and data teams to define
    data quality rules and acceptance criteria
  • Design and execute
    manual and automated test cases
    for BI and data solutions
  • Support and improve
    test automation
    processes for data and reporting layers

Required Qualifications

  • Experience working in a
    BI Quality / Data QA team
  • Strong experience with
    Power BI
    (testing reports, datasets, measures, and visuals)
  • Strong
    SQL
    skills, specifically using
    SQL Server
    for data validation and testing
  • Experience writing complex SQL queries for
    data reconciliation and analysis
  • Hands-on experience with
    test automation
    (tools or custom frameworks)
  • Solid understanding of
    data warehousing and BI concepts
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset

Nice to Have

  • Experience testing
    ETL / data pipelines
  • Familiarity with
    CI/CD pipelines
    for data or BI solutions
  • Experience working in
    Agile / Scrum
    environments
  • Knowledge of
    data quality best practices
    and validation frameworks

  • Ability to translate business requirements into test scenarios
  • Proactive mindset with strong problem-solving skills
