JOB SUMMARY

The mission for the Engineering Ecosystem Org at Oportun is to be the force-multiplicative Org that empowers engineers to deliver member value with high-speed and high-quality. Teams in this Org play a vital role in designing, developing, and maintaining cutting-edge software solutions that power our mission and advance our business. We strike a balance between leveraging leading tools and developing in-house solutions to create member experiences that empower their financial independence. As a Senior Engineer at Oportun, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale, high-throughput foundational services and libraries to support Engineering Platform, Systems and Processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Architecting and developing solutions to deploy, manage and monitor EKS clusters, deploy applications, perform rollouts, canary deployments, migration and disaster recovery.
• Build or maintain tooling to efficiently manage and monitor infrastructure.
• Have strong, but pragmatic, opinions and drive consensus to deliver timely results.
• Adapt to the changing needs of the organization, learn, develop, and deliver impact.

REQUIREMENTS

• 8+ years of software engineering experience or 6+ years with Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, a related field, or a foreign equivalent.
• Worked with high availability systems with 99.99% uptime.
• 3+ years of experience with internal tooling / backend services.
• 2+ years of DevOps experience.
• 2+ years of experience with Linux /Unix operating systems.
• Expertise in one or more modern programming/scripting language such as Ruby, Python, Golang, Nodejs, or Java like language.
• Working in public clouds like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work with other teams within the same company.
