Suppliers Quality Engineer Sr

Job Description Summary

The Senior Suppliers Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality of materials and components received from external suppliers, playing a critical role in maintaining El Carmen Manufacturing Facility's high product standards and operational efficiency.

Job Description:

Main Responsabilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain supplier quality assurance programs and procedures.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments to evaluate their quality management systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing teams to define supplier quality requirements and specifications.
  • Investigate and resolve complex supplier quality issues, including root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers.
  • Lead new supplier qualification processes and participate in supplier selection.
  • Manage and track supplier non-conformances, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to suppliers on quality standards, processes, and tools.
  • Participate in new product development (NPD) projects to ensure supplier readiness and quality during all phases.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on supplier quality performance and improvement efforts to management.

Required Skills and Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing) or a related technical field.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in supplier quality engineering or a closely related quality assurance role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100).
  • Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies (e.g., FMEA, SPC, MSA, 8D, PPAP).
  • Demonstrated experience conducting supplier audits and driving corrective actions.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to supplier sites as required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar certification is a plus.
