JOB OVERVIEW

Plan A Technologies is looking for a skilled FinOps Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for implementing technical cost optimization strategies across cloud infrastructure, driving efficiency through automation, right-sizing, and close collaboration with engineering and operations teams. As a FinOps Engineer, you will play a key role in improving visibility, governance, and control over cloud spending while ensuring cost-effective scaling of infrastructure.

Please note: you must have at least 5+ years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their native cost management tools to be considered for this role.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

• Right-size compute, storage, and database resources based on utilization and performance analysis.

• Maintain the FinOps dashboard and collaborate with the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) to implement and enhance automation tools.

• Develop and maintain scripts or tools for automated cost optimization, resource tagging enforcement, and compliance.

• Provide usage trends and scaling pattern insights to support Savings Plan and Reserved Instance (RI) management, as well as infrastructure spend forecasting.

• Review infrastructure architectures to recommend cost-efficient design alternatives.

• Monitor usage vs. allocation drift and address under- or over-provisioned resources.

• Partner with Cloud Architecture and Product teams to embed cost-awareness into development and deployment practices.

• Implement and maintain cost-related guardrails such as spend limits, budget alerts, and auto-shutdown policies for idle resources..

EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their native cost management tools.

• Strong knowledge of infrastructure optimization practices (compute, storage, networking, and databases).

• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.) for automation and tooling.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks (Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, etc.).

• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.).

• Solid understanding of FinOps principles and cloud cost optimization techniques.

• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Operations, Cloud Architecture, and Product.

• Strong problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and focus on efficiency.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with Finance, Engineering, and leadership teams.

• Have solid written and verbal English skills.

• Ability to maintain a positive work attitude.

• Initiative and drive to do great things.
