PPG is seeking a talented and passionate Principal Cloud Architect to join our Cloud Architecture team within PPG's Cloud Center of Excellence as an IT Infrastructure Engineer Specialist, Expert II. In this pivotal role, you will design, implement, and optimize cloud infrastructure across our multi-cloud environment, driving PPG's Cloud Only strategy and advancing cloud-native solution architectures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consult with internal solution architects on cloud architecture best practices to analyze, design, and implement scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
- Develop infrastructure architectures that strengthen our cloud security posture, promote cloud agility, and prioritize cost optimization across a diverse array of business solutions.
- Collaborate across the Digital IT organization to define roadmaps for cloud technologies and landing zones to support evolving business needs.
- Coordinate and lead the global infrastructure review board, optimizing the review process, and driving continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient cloud utilization and governance.
- Evangelize the use of cloud technologies across the IT organization alongside fellow engineers, change management, and communication professionals.
- Design and document reference architectures and implementation templates for common workload designs patterns.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information science, information technology and management, or 8+ years of proven experience in cloud engineering, architecture, or equivalent fields. Experience architecting in multi-cloud environments is preferred.
- Experience leading cross-team technical workshops to drive decision making and outcomes
- Experience in cloud platforms, including Alibaba Cloud, AWS, Azure, or OCI.
- Deep understanding of cloud best practices including security, cost management, networking, and performance optimization.
- Working knowledge and experience with a broad set of enterprise technology domains is preferred including security, infrastructure, development, data analytics, and AI/ML.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are a plus.
- Practical experience using diagramming software tools such as Microsoft Visio, Draw.IO, or Lucidchart.
