Quality Assurance Team Lead

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced QA Team Lead to manage and mentor a team of QA Analysts testing software integrated with hardware devices such as washers and dryers. This role will oversee comprehensive QA processes, drive quality initiatives, and ensure the delivery of high-quality software releases. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise across multiple testing domains and proven leadership experience managing technical QA teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 5-6 QA Analysts with diverse technical expertise
• Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and create individual development plans
• Foster a culture of critical thinking and continuous improvement within the QA team
• Coordinate resource allocation and workload distribution across multiple testing projects

Technical Leadership:

• Define and implement comprehensive QA strategies for hardware-software integrated systems
• Review and approve test plans, test cases, and test scenarios developed by the team
• Guide the team in identifying edge cases, alternate failure scenarios, and critical test paths
• Oversee API testing strategies and ensure proper implementation using tools like Postman
• Lead mobile testing initiatives for iOS/Android applications
• Drive test automation initiatives and framework selection
• Ensure proper SQL query design for backend testing and data validation
• Review and analyze testing metrics and reports created in Tableau

Process & Tools Management:

• Establish and maintain QA best practices, standards, and methodologies
• Manage JIRA workflows for bug tracking, test case management, and sprint planning
• Oversee documentation standards and knowledge management in Confluence
• Implement and optimize CI/CD integration for QA processes
• Define KPIs and quality metrics for the QA team

Collaboration & Communication:

• Collaborate with development, product, and hardware engineering teams
• Present quality metrics and testing status to senior management
• Coordinate integration testing between software and hardware devices
• Facilitate cross-functional meetings and QA retrospectives
• Conduct occasional onsite training and coordination meetings in the US

Must Haves:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
• 5+ years of QA experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or team lead role
• Proven experience managing teams of 5+ QA professionals
• Deep expertise in multiple testing domains (must have at
  least 3
  of the following):
• SQL:
  Advanced query writing, database testing, and data validation
• Tableau:
  Creating dashboards, quality metrics, and test reports
• Mobile Testing:
  Comprehensive iOS/Android testing strategies
• Test Automation:
  Framework design and implementation (Selenium, Cypress, Appium)
• API Testing:
  Advanced experience with Postman, REST Assured, or similar tools
• Expert-level proficiency with:
• JIRA
  for project management, bug tracking, and agile workflows
• Confluence
  for documentation, test strategies, and knowledge sharing
• Strong understanding of:
• Test strategy
  development and
  test planning
• Risk-based testing approaches
• Defect management
  and
  root cause analysis
• Experience with
  hardware-software integration testing or IoT devices
• Demonstrated ability to
  think critically and coach teams on:
• Comprehensive
  test case design
• Edge case identification
• Failure scenario analysis
• Excellent leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills
• Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal) in English

Nice to Haves:

• Experience with embedded systems or commercial laundry equipment
• Knowledge of Python, Java, or C# for test automation
• Familiarity with performance testing tools (JMeter, LoadRunner)
• Experience with security testing methodologies
• Agile/Scrum Master certification
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools
• Knowledge of networked hardware-software integration
• Experience managing offshore or distributed QA teams
• Background in continuous improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean)
