Buyer, Fastener Procurement Querétaro, Mexico

Join our USA-based company's unified Procurement team as a Senior Buyer based in Querétaro, Mexico. This role is a crucial component of our North American purchasing strategy, designed to foster a seamless operational connection between our Mexico-based execution and our USA-based strategic goals. You will manage the high-volume purchasing necessary to support our Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs for our primary commodity: fasteners and related hardware. Your mission is to secure supply and ensure the uninterrupted, continuous flow of "C" item inventory. Due to daily collaboration with our USA management and team members, professional fluency in both written and verbal English is a position requirement.

Core Responsibilities

  • High-Volume Purchasing and Negotiation:
  • Lead the procurement cycle for "C" item commodities, managing the high-volume, transactional purchasing process efficiently.
  • Negotiate favorable pricing and terms with suppliers to achieve significant cost savings on recurring, high-frequency orders.
  • Execute formal bid processes, including Request for Proposal and Request for Quote, when introducing new vendors or seeking pricing confirmation.
  • Purchasing Execution for Material Availability:
  • Ensure continuous and uninterrupted inventory flow to meet VMI service level agreements and customer production line demands.
  • Manage purchasing execution based on two primary buy signals: Order Point/Order Quantity (OP/OQ) calculations and direct signals provided by the Planning Department.
  • Collaborate closely with logistics and warehouse teams to manage delivery schedules effectively.
  • Analyze consumption rates and demand patterns to proactively adjust purchasing schedules, inventory levels and mitigating any risk of stock-outs or surplus.
  • Supplier Relationship and Reliability:
  • Manage relationships with key commodity suppliers, focusing on reliable delivery performance and quality standards essential for VMI.
  • Conduct thorough supplier performance reviews (on-time delivery, fill rates) to maintain consistent service levels.
  • Data Analysis and Process Improvement:
  • Analyze spending patterns (spend analysis) using advanced data modeling to identify and realize cost-reduction opportunities within high-volume purchasing.
  • Utilize data to improve transactional efficiency and streamline operations to minimize costs within the VMI model
  • Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and ethical standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of progressive experience in procurement, with a strong background in high-volume transactional buying, VMI, or "C" item commodity management.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., complex formulas, pivot tables, data visualization, and modeling). Proven experience working within large-scale Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as Epicor, Oracle, or SAP.
  • Professional fluency in both written and verbal English is a position requirement for effective communication with USA management and international team members.
  • Strong analytical and collaboration abilities essential for working effectively in a cross-border, unified team structure. Exceptional negotiation and communication skills. Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple complex high-volume purchasing tasks simultaneously, and prioritize based on customer service impact.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19, $20,000.00 per month
