Basic Function:
This position provides environmental, health, safety, and security leadership to the site.

Individual is accountable for: directing EHS activities at his/her location(s); establishing EHS objectives and targets; internal reporting of EHS performance; communication of national, area, and local regulatory requirements, and ensuring documents are available in the local languages.

Position is responsible for: maintaining site HQ Programs ISO/OHSAS certifications; assuring accurate and complete EHS reporting of metrics; assuring closure and regulatory agency findings on a timely basis; completion of required training for EHS personnel; managing interfaces with the public and governmental authorities with adverse findings and enforcement actions; creating a strong EHS culture that engages employees throughout the site in EHS teams and processes.

Being conducted at any time according to Kohler's Ethics and Values.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Ensure implementation and compliance with relevant legal regulations in safety, occupational health and environmental management. Also, update, maintain legal and other requirement that the organizations subscribe.
  • Implementing the Safety, Health and Environmental plan related to the Facility's requirements should include Policy, procedure, standards, identification and assessment of hazards and significant environmental aspects, instructions, safe working standards, among others.
  • Report monthly to the Operations Management on accident, frequency, and severity indexes. Including reports on objectives, goals and programs.
  • Organize and direct accident prevention committees, rescue brigades and drills on accidents and disasters. Included in the Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan.
  • Prepare the relevant documentation according to the legal and corporate requirements. Safety, Occupational Health and Environment Dossier should be developed, in order to document for auditing and traceability purposes of the management.
  • Propose immediate continuous improvements, sustained corrective actions, in order to improve the safe conditions of infrastructure, skills and documentation.
  • To supervise the effective and sure fulfillment of the tasks assigned to the safety department.
  • Work on ergonomics improvements for critical or unsafe operations.
  • Other duties assigned by the Plant Manager, inherent to his position.

Supervisory Relationships: Reports to Plant Manager

Organization Relationship:

  • Frequent contact with all plant departments.
  • Regular contact with Kohler WI support groups
  • Frequent contact with factory employees.

External Relationships:

  • Frequent contact with vendors

Education And Experience Requirements

  • Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills is valid. However, we prefer the following:
  • Impact studies and environmental risk (state and federal)
  • Accident prevention programs (PPA)
  • Single Environmental License (LAU)
  • Federal and State Annual Operational Certificate (COA)
  • Waste Management Plans
  • Diagnosis of subsurface contamination
  • Implementation of risk assessment methodologies for safety, hygiene, and the environment.
  • Safety and hygiene programs
  • Fire prevention, protection and fire prevention program
  • Degree of fire and / or explosion risk
  • Chemicals Management Program
  • Machinery and equipment management program
  • Hazard management Cutting and welding activities.
  • Potential risk for maintenance activities in electrical installations
  • Determination of personal protective equipment
  • Procedures and instructions manuals
  • Recognition and evaluation of noise exposure level (NER)
  • Implementation of risk identification systems
  • Elaboration of the evacuation plan in case of fire
  • Comprehension of Kohler, industry, state, and country EHS requirements.

  • Adept at utilization of company-wide system for reporting EHS data and information
  • Ability to demonstrate managerial courage (e.g., managing varied interests representing potential conflicts)
  • Ability to lead and support cross-functional EHS teams.
  • Prior experience or education with an emphasis in environmental, health and safety program management and employee training.
  • Degree in Chemical, Environmental, Industrial Engineering or similar.
  • Bilingual Spanish - English
  • +5 experience years as EHS Engineer in manufacture industry
  • Knowledge of Mexican regulatory laws
