Project overview: The engineering team is responsible for building backend services, automation tools, and intelligent data-driven components that support critical business operations, digital products, and AI-enabled use cases across LATAM. The team develops solutions using Python, modern backend frameworks, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as BigQuery, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Dataform. They work closely with product, data, and AI teams to design high-performance systems that integrate traditional software engineering with automation and applied AI.
Position overview: We are seeking a Python Backend Developer (Middle to Senior) with strong experience in building APIs, scalable backend components, and cloud-based services. The ideal candidate is capable of working end-to-end—from requirements gathering to production deployment—combining backend engineering, automation, and integration of AI and data services on GCP.
- Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python (FastAPI or Flask).
- Build and document REST APIs, including asynchronous workflows and OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
- Implement integrations with databases and data platforms: BigQuery, PostgreSQL/pgvector, and other GCP services.
- Deploy and run applications on Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, or serverless infrastructures.
- Work with Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Dataform to support data processing and automation.
- Integrate AI capabilities (OpenAI, Vertex AI, embeddings, semantic search) into backend systems.
- Implement CI/CD, testing, observability (logging/metrics), and secure deployment practices.
- Collaborate with product, data, and AI teams, participating in Agile ceremonies and technical discussions.
Produce clear documentation and maintain high engineering standards.
3–6+ years of backend development experience with Python.
- Strong proficiency in FastAPI or Flask, REST API design, async patterns, and testing.
- Experience with BigQuery, PostgreSQL/pgvector, and cloud-native data workflows.
- Hands-on experience with Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Dataform.
- Experience integrating AI models or services (OpenAI, embeddings, semantic search).
- Solid understanding of CI/CD, Git workflows, code quality, security, and observability.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage end-to-end delivery.
- Fluency in Spanish.
Good spoken English (for documentation and collaboration).
Nice to have: Exposure to containers (Docker), event-driven architectures, or microservices.
- Experience with automation and workflow orchestration.
- Knowledge of AI/ML governance and evaluation.
