Sr. Manager - Manufacturing EHS and Compliance
Growing, international apparel manufacturer and distributor seeks a Sr. Manager - Manufacturing Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) and Compliance with experience. The position requires a bilingual leader (English/Spanish) who can travel occasionally to the US.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage the EHS team to proactively identify and remediate potential hazards at facilities in Mexico and US including building, equipment, machinery, and environment.
Review current safety plans to keep employees safe. Plans should include precautionary procedures, assessment of SDS for all chemicals use and accident response plan.
Oversee the process to Investigate workplace accidents to discover the cause of the issue and prevent future accidents from taking place.
Coordinate with HR to follow up with workers' compensation insurance and follow a return-to-work process.
Inspect and prepare facilities for audits, take part in the audits and coordinate the completion of corrective action plans after the audits.
Request audits to comply with client's requirements. Complete corrective action plans resulting from the audits. Upload information to necessary auditing system.
Maintain programs that train and educate employees on how to use safety equipment properly to keep themselves and others safe. Deploy safety training monthly.
Enforce Social Responsibility requirements with our vendors, obtain signed agreements and audit their practices.
Stay up to date on laws and regulations in the US and Mexico.
Work with the Customer Service Dept to gather information and complete compliance forms for clients. Login to client portal to provide any information required.
Complete OSHA forms and upload them to the OSHA website.
Consistently follow up and communicate clearly with internal departments and clients.
Manage/update various systems and generate reports in excel and other programs.
Proactively manage tasks and solve problems.
Other tasks may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
Bilingual in Spanish/English is required.
Bachelor's degree in safety engineering or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment – preferably apparel.
Minimum 5 years of experience in Social Responsibility Auditing and Corrective Action Plans.
Certifications include but are not limited to: ISO, OSHA, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Safety and Health Manager, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified in Manufacturing Compliance.
Strong Leadership ability required to lead and manage the team.
Strong Interpersonal skills are essential to collaborate well with others to work promptly through any obstacles and get things done.
Very strong organizational and analytical skills.
Exceptional written (email) and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in MS Office - Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
Highly motivated, high energy and quick learner with the ability to prioritize and work well independently and with the Team.
Ability to prioritize and focus on details with attention to accuracy and deadlines.
Able to work a flexible schedule with tight deadlines under pressure.
Able to travel occasionally to US.
