Position Overview
The Contracting Specialist is responsible for negotiating competitive reimbursement contracts with medical providers that treat personal injury patients nationwide.
This role manages the full contracting lifecycle—from provider research and due diligence to rate negotiations and contract execution—working closely with internal teams and legal counsel. Contracting Specialists typically manage 30+ active provider conversations at any given time, making strong organizational skills and follow-through critical.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct outbound, phone-based outreach to medical providers in targeted specialties and markets (orthopedics, pain management, physical therapy, etc.)
- Research and identify qualified providers using PROVE's CRM and online research tools
- Perform provider due diligence, including:
- Background and reputation research
- Medical board and disciplinary checks
- Patient and practice reviews
- Negotiate reimbursement rates using established benchmarks and effective negotiation techniques
- Collaborate with internal legal counsel to support contract language review and execution
- Represent PROVE professionally while educating providers on our services and identifying potential sales opportunities
- Work closely with sales and operations teams to ensure sufficient provider coverage for patient needs
The Contracting Specialist reports directly to the Contracting Manager and plays a critical role in supporting both sales growth and operational execution.
Ideal Candidate Experience
- Experience in phone-based roles (sales, collections, account management, or similar)
- Professional negotiation experience, preferably in collections or financial services
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Working knowledge of the healthcare industry, including:
- Medical specialties and facilities
- Medical billing and coding basics
- Ability to manage high-volume workflows with multiple active negotiations
Skillset & Qualifications
- Proven ability to meet or exceed performance goals in inside, phone-based sales roles
- Excellent spoken and written English with strong phone presence
- Exceptional time management and ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Experience with cloud-based CRMs (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
