The Materials Manager leads all materials, planning, procurement, and logistics activities to ensure efficient supply chain operations, cost optimization, and on-time delivery. This role drives alignment between production, purchasing, and commercial teams to meet business objectives while maintaining compliance, safety, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead production planning and S&OP processes to align material availability with demand and revenue targets.
  • Manage inventory levels (raw, WIP, finished goods) to ensure on-time delivery and minimize excess stock and freight costs.
  • Oversee procurement of materials, goods, and services, ensuring quality, cost competitiveness, and supplier reliability.
  • Develop and maintain PFEP and visual inventory management systems to improve accuracy and material flow.
  • Direct shipping, receiving, and warehousing operations to guarantee efficiency and inventory integrity.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Strategic Sourcing to identify new suppliers, materials, and cost reduction opportunities (PPV projects).
  • Coordinate transportation and tariff management initiatives and support crisis management actions when needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce lead times, optimize processes, and enhance supply chain performance.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the materials and logistics teams, promoting safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Monitor departmental KPIs, budgets, and performance to achieve plant and corporate objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Supply Chain or Logistics, including at least 3 years in a management role.
  • Strong knowledge of S&OP, PFEP, MRP/ERP systems (SAP), and inventory control.
  • Proficient in ERP systems (especially MRP modules) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • APICS CPIM certification preferred.
  • Proven leadership in team development, problem-solving, and cost optimization.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean principles, safety standards, and continuous improvement methodologies.
