We are seeking a
Principal Software Engineer
to lead a local team of engineers in Mexico, responsible for designing, building, and deploying UI technology for investment managers creating and consuming buy-side research content. You will collaborate with a US-based project team, directing front-end engineers to deliver elegant, performant web applications.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead the design and implementation of user experiences using modern web technologies and best practices.
  • Manage a team of front-end engineers while coordinating with key stakeholders to deliver high-quality software in complex environments.
  • Act as a hands-on engineer and architect—contributing to code, reviewing designs, and guiding best practices across projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners and client stakeholders to define, design, and deliver scalable software solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships as a trusted technical advisor, contributing to long-term partnership success.
  • Participate in business development activities when needed—helping define project scopes, propose technical solutions, and support engagement planning.
  • Mentor and develop engineering managers and senior engineers, fostering growth and technical excellence within the team.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience designing and building complex, commercial-grade software applications.
  • 5+ years of experience leading Agile teams.
  • Proven leadership skills with strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience managing teams and engaging with clients in finance, consulting, or startup environments.
  • Passion for technology and innovation, staying current with emerging trends and tools.
  • Strong proficiency with
    TypeScript
    and
    React
    for front-end development.
  • Experience with at least one major
    cloud platform
    and working knowledge of
    contemporary SDLC practices
    such as continuous integration and continuous delivery.
  • Strong understanding of testing, quality assurance, source control, and code review processes.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with financial tools such as Bloomberg, Symphony, Excel, Salesforce, or Databricks.
  • Experience with other modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g., Angular, Vue).
  • Background in capital markets or buy-side investment management.
  • Experience with
