SSOE is hiring for a
Furnace
Designer
who will work with our teams to help our clients gain a competitive advantage through innovative process and systems design. This person will have a
background
in the
glass industry
or in
glass furnace design work
.

Responsibilities
The following duties are typical of the position but are not all encompassing. Responsibilities include those required to deliver quality service on schedule and within budget in a team environment.
a Typical Day Might Include
DESIGN LEADERSHIP
- Delivering quality design packages on schedule and within budget.
- Applying broad knowledge of mechanical, refractory and structural CAD design for practices across broad areas of assignments.
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety codes, and environmental regulations.
- Work closely with structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
- Drafting and revising furnace system layouts.
- Creating and refining unique design solutions to engineering problems.
- Perform simulation and analysis of glass manufacturing furnaces
- Design and optimize charger and throat sections of industrial glass furnaces
- Design refractory crown (Vaulted Roof)
- Develop and implement clean melter designs for industrial glass production
- Support mid and large-scale furnace construction projects, including regenerators, melters, and distributors
- Design refractory and steel support structures, utility systems, platforms, walkways, and access points.
COORDINATION & COLLABORATION
- Work with the project leads to understand the project scope of work and assist in breaking it down into smaller, manageable tasks and along with establishing milestones that are delegated to team members who are empowered to execute.
- Regularly present progress to the internal project lead and/or client to ensure satisfaction throughout the life of the project.
- Work with project team to drive the design to completion while adhering to client standards and project required level of design.
Qualifications
What You Will Bring:
- Bachelor Degree in Architecture or Engineering field (Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering)
- Six (6) years or more in furnace design (Glass Industry)
- Proficiency in Auto CAD 2D/3D platform.
- Inventor experience
- Advanced English.
Desirable Skills
- Inventor experience in glass design projects a plus.
- Experience in the design and detailing of piping systems and sheet metal ductwork systems is a plus.
- Experience in the design and detailing of furnace refractory and binding steel is a plus.
- Prior experience in Machine Design is relevant
