IT Manufacturing Technician

The IT Manufacturing Technician will provide onsite support and escalation for enterprise solutions across the region in the Manufacturing and R&D area, in alignment with IT Business Partners, and will support business strategy and objectives in collaboration with Global IT.

This role is accountable for delivering a robust support structure for manufacturing and R&D systems in the region. The Technician will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure systems are running on standard OS platforms, have defined business and IT ownership, and that new manufacturing systems are integrated in alignment with Industry 4.0 standards.

The position requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to build strong collaborative relationships, ensuring day-to-day business needs are met promptly. The Technician will also provide guidance and escalation to business teams including Advanced Operations, Engineering, and R&D, with specific focus on hardware and software support.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in securing and containing the manufacturing environment.
  • Provide Level 2 support
    related to Manufacturing and R&D issues for desktops, operating systems, antivirus, and application software. Ensure technical issues are resolved and properly documented.
  • Develop knowledge base articles on common issues and day-to-day support, with a focus on shift-left activities where possible.
  • Understand machine-level integration as it applies to shop floor systems and integration with the business layer. Provide guidance to business and IT teams and contribute to standard development.
  • Support approved Global IT Projects, ensuring integration of new manufacturing systems aligns with Global IT and Industry 4.0 standards.
  • Recommend process improvements and implement system changes that drive efficiency, cost savings, and positive business outcomes.
  • Support the adoption of enterprise systems across Stryker, minimizing reliance on point or plant-specific solutions.
  • Participate in discussions on manufacturing business projects related to IT hardware, connectivity, and software.
  • Ensure delivery teams adhere to patching, antivirus, firewall, and security standards on the shop floor.
  • Promote awareness and adoption of Industry 4.0 standards across Global IT Operations.
  • Contribute to process execution across all operational processes (incident, problem, change, configuration, asset management, etc.).

Education & Special Trainings

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Information Systems, or equivalent (preferred).
  • Qualification/Certification in Industry 4.0 and IT Technologies (e.g., Microsoft) is an advantage.
  • ITIL Foundations certification is required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the field or a related area.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence.
  • Proven ability to manage and execute competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with IT systems in a manufacturing and R&D environment (preferred).
