Insurance Underwriter – Commercial Transportation

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our team, specializing in cross-border and domestic commercial transportation insurance. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of long-haul operations and RRG (Risk Retention Groups), with the ability to assess risk, structure coverage, and support profitable underwriting decisions.

This role requires a high level of expertise in evaluating transportation risks, collaborating with brokers and carriers, and ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines while maintaining strong communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and underwrite commercial transportation risks for cross-border and domestic accounts.
  • Analyze risk exposure for long-haul operations, owner-operators, and fleet accounts.
  • Work with RRG programs and understand their underwriting criteria.
  • Review applications, loss runs, financial data, and operational details.
  • Provide underwriting support to brokers and agents.
  • Ensure compliance with internal underwriting policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Recommend pricing, coverage terms, and conditions based on risk analysis.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Insurance Underwriter in commercial transportation.
  • Strong knowledge of cross-border and domestic trucking operations.
  • Experience with long-haul accounts and RRG programs.
  • Excellent analytical and risk assessment skills.
  • Advanced English level (verbal and written).
  • Strong communication and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in underwriting systems and MS Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with U.S. carriers and MGA programs.
  • Background in commercial auto, cargo, and general liability.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
