Description

As a Problem Solving and 6-Sigma Engineer, you will serve as a critical technical resource dedicated to enhancing Ford's product quality and customer satisfaction within the EDS (Electrical Distribution System) Commodity. You will lead high-impact quality projects focused on current model vehicles, specifically targeting the reduction of process variability and warranty concerns. By guiding cross-functional teams through data-driven problem-solving frameworks, you will resolve complex supplier-related technical issues and translate those solutions into systemic improvements that prevent future failures.

Responsibilities


•    Lead current model quality projects (process variability reduction) for high warranty and QR reduction issues. 

•    Guide cross function team, using a strategically driven Quality Tools / 6-sigma approach, to provide timely and robust resolution to high leverage, complex, current model supplier process quality concerns.

•    Ensure alignment with STA, PD and other Ford functions as appropriate to address technical and systemic opportunities.

•    Identify systemic lessons learned from project work and cascade to Site/Core STA.  Work with Core STA to document the few systemic critical lessons learned into corporate documents (e.g. Health Charts, Ford Manufacturing Requirements, CQI, etc.) to assure failure mode avoidance on new and existing products.  

•    Complete Top Supplier training in Strategic Problem Solving, Green Belt, and Quality Tools as part of internal Ford training.  

•    Provide advice and counsel on technical problem solving and data analysis to regional STA organization and other Ford functions as required.
 

Qualifications
  • Minimum: Bachelor of Science/ Engineering, or academic equivalent
  • Certified Black Belt or Black belt candidate working towards certification during the role
  • Proven analytical skills with a passion for 6 Sigma, exposure to Quality Tools and knowledge of Ford's problem solving techniques, data analysis and statistical tools.
  • Knowledge of electrical (EDS) commodity, functions and related features.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead and facilitate cross functional teams
  • Ability to speak and write in English language fluently to effectively communicate with the global team

The following skills and 3-5+ years of experience are recommended qualifications for this role:


•    Operational experience in manufacturing processes

•    Demonstrated initiative and ability to apply problem solving techniques to resolve concerns

•    Experience in Statistical analysis tools, problem solving techniques & use of Minitab

•    Project management experience 

•    Participating in a global team

•    Evidenced analytical & communication skills  
 
•   Availability to travel
