Position Title: Cost Accountant

Reports to: Plant Controller

Work Location: Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, Mexico

As a Cost Accountant, you will play a critical role in analyzing and managing the company's cost structures, ensuring accurate product costing, and providing valuable financial insights to support strategic decision-making. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive cost-saving initiatives and improve financial performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cost Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead, to determine product costs.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify cost discrepancies and propose corrective actions.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports for management review.
  • Collaborate with production teams to monitor and control manufacturing expenses.
  • Develop and maintain cost allocation methodologies for accurate financial reporting.

Inventory Management:

  • Manage inventory accounting processes, including valuation, adjustments, and reconciliations.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts to ensure accuracy.
  • Provide recommendations for optimizing inventory levels and reducing carrying costs.
  • Assist in the development of inventory reserve estimates.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Support the annual budgeting process by providing cost-related data and insights.
  • Assist in the development of financial forecasts and cost projections.
  • Monitor budget-to-actual performance and explain variances to stakeholders.

Cost Improvement Initiatives:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing operational costs.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of process changes and efficiency improvements

Financial Analysis and Compliance:

  • Perform financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with financial audits and provide necessary documentation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree or CPA/CMA certification is a plus).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting or related finance roles.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory management, and financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and with cross-functional departments.
